This brings me to the cost effectiveness of clones.
Often times in smaller engagements you have to deal with a plethora of elements that the droids are simply not designed to deal with.
In open, direct combat with mass formations they are very effective and borderline unstoppable, but war is more complicated than that. They're rank and file soldiers, not warriors. The situations they're put in are outside the parameters of the orders they were given and they don't know how to deal with it. They're designed to obey simple direct orders, which is why when faced with unusual situations, which the star wars movies and tv shows mainly focus on, they appear clueless. Simply put the battle droids are simple mass produced robots that are designed almost purely for open combat and they lack the ability to improvise, function independently and make complex decisions.
This is my reasoning for why clones are useful and an explanation for the battle droids apparent ineptitude. Some people feel that the use of clones isnt very cost effective and other people get upset at how the battle droids are often shown to be inept and foolish. You hear a lot of people argue about the benefits of clones troopers vs the benefits of battle droids.
